AKHC Advisory

Business adviser to agency leaders. Bringing momentum to your ambitions.

Agencies need momentum and guidance from people who understand them.

That may be for the transition from a start-up to grown up,  the opening of overseas offices, or the preparation for exit.

I run an advisory practice specialising in supporting ambitious business leaders.

Preparation for sale

The decision to sell should never be taken likely and there are a number of factors that you need to think about before beginning the process.

2 Stages

Preparation for sale:

This stage if managed well should seamlessly fit in with your overall structures – audit, accounting, tax, HR, property, operations, legal.

These are the building blocks of your business.

The good thing about the preparation stage is that you are in control of the process and can systematically work through a checklist of standard documents and processes that are likely to come out of due diligence.

It should be an iterative process whereby you are building something that is sustainable, but created with a view to the bigger picture.

You need to be methodical, systematic and be checking that the outputs seamlessly fit together.

What can I do to help?

I have a network of advisers, lawyers , accountants etc etc

Need to layer on additional layers and be looking forward and planning.

The sale process:

Once into the sale process you will be reacting to the requests and demands of the potential buyer. This is not the point where you are pulling information together for the first time but it is still a very intense period with every change in the business subject to scrutiny.

There will be lots of emotions and highs and lows, and at times there will be legal or tax issues of great complexity but also detailed information requests that are very time consuming.

It is vital that the agency keeps focused on the day to day business as each month will be subject to scrutiny as the buyer wants to be sure that they are buying a strong business.
